i can only jelp you with this one.

paypal sends money from your credit card to the other person.
If you someday get paid by paypal, there will be money in your paypal account.

When from then on you send money, first the money in your account will be send, after that when it reaches zero, paypal continues to send money from your credit card.

Hi !
Maybe I - as another International paypal user (Germany) - can help you. Things that need to be clarified:
1. YOU have a paypal account, right ? As an international user you had to use your credit card (called 'cc' furthermore) for checking your personals.
2. I assume that you are a 'Personal Verified International User' at paypal Huh
So let's get this started:
1. Most important thing is: Does the seller accept cc-based paypal or "just" money transfer from one paypal account to another ?
1.2. If he does you can just make "Send money" and the
total will be debted to your credit card.
1.3. If he doesn't you have to transfer money from your bank account to your paypal account. After then the paypal account is just like an bank account with that amount of money you had transfered. So you can "Send money" and if your paypal-account covers the sum you have to transfer, the money will be transfered directly from the paypal account.
2.Paypal money at your account has priority ! That means: If you lack money at your account to cover all the money you want to transfer, your cc will be debted with the difference.
SO to answer your questions directly:
The total will be 501 USD. I think you have to go for HIS
fees (.5%) but only if you pay by cc-based payment (not sure about that !!!).
There is NO way for transfering money directly to his bank account CHEAPLY ! It's around 20-25 Euro in my case. But you'll have to ask your bank for that ...
Quote:
1. I transfer money from my bank account to paypal.

Only if you can't pay with cc-based paypal/payment.
Quote:
2. I transfer money from paypal to the seller that i wish to pay money to.
3. voila all done.

ABSOLUTELY
Quote:

INSTANTLY !!!

Hope I could help ... others please correct me if I'm wrong !!! I just can talk from my experiences ...

Thank you both..!

Now I guess I understand how it works.. (I want to be realy sure on how it works, since I think that 500$ is a large sum to send out to nowhere, if I dont...=) )

I never had any problem with Paypal, even for 500$ or more payments.

Oh, and I think it's written somewhere in the Paypal terms and conditions that you're not supposed to pay Paypal fees (or territorial charges, etc)

YES, that's right ... I was confused by MOTL !
There you have to pay for the sellers fees mostly.

I once got dinged by Paypal in an annoying way with an overseas transaction.  It was for about $100, and the SELLER was told that HE had to pay roughly $5 to paypal because I was using a credit card.  I ended up paying for it myself.  I just think It's weird that they wouldn't even tell the buyer - usually all feed are paid by the buyer in most transactions!

Also - My bank - LaSalle Bank in Chicago - has had so many complaints from paypal users that they have shut off paypal's access to checking accounts.  Actually, they only shut off paypal's withdrawals...so I can't ever become a verified member.  Now that I'm at my 'spending limit' I can't ever buy anything using paypal again.  When I complained to paypal, they basically told me to open another bank account.

After they did that, I googled "Problems with Paypal" and found an amazing wealth of websites dedicated to bashing it...so be careful!

I recently had a seller sending me that link: http://www.paypalwarning.com. He said that's the reason why he doesn't accept paypal.
I was somewhat astonished because i never had any problems with paypal. Also i do not understand why a lot of us/canadian sellers no longer ship to unconfirmed (i.e. european) addresses. Yes they are not covered by paypal protection, but hey at that time they already got my money so what's the point Sad

The thing is, Paypal isn't a financial institution, and it's not insured or regulated by any government body.  It seems like complaints are fairly rare, but if you DO happen to get in a pickle with them, you have no recourse - you are just out of luck, and out of however much money they think they should take from you.

What surprised me is that they wouldn't even acknowledge me when I tried to get them to raise my spending limit so I could continue to use them.  I guess they would rather me tell every single person I have a transaction with on E-bay that the largest bank in Chicag doesn't trust them, which is what I do now.

squt:  I know what you mean.  My wife is also at LaSalle and she often bugs me to use my PayPal account since I bank at National City, which accepts PayPal.

According to their website your balance is FDIC insured if it's in US Dollars.
