The spells you can use a very limited and the overall feel is very arcade like.  On a scale of 1 to 10, I give the game a 4.

I bought mine the day it came out . I played it for about an hour before I gave up . I just could not enjoy this game. My 11 year old loves it though. I think it was a wasted 40.00.

update:

it's a game just like mortal kombat.

2 fighters dueling each other with a couple spells.

3 creatures (carnophage, elvish vanguard etc.)
3 sorceries
3 enchantments.

you start the duel with 1 creature and 1 sorceries and how further you come, you can get more "powerful" spells.

It's a shame wizards of the coasts put the magic name on this game.

It is absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

@sylvanstu, you managed to play it for a whole hour??

I managed to play it for 10 minutes.

I'm glad i downloaded it instead of spending several dozens of euro's on it.

BLAAARRGGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Undecided I kind of like it. I've just started playing through it and I'm about half-way through the levels. I'm learning all about White magic now, since I've mastered Red and Green Tongue

When I get a game, I tend to play it A LOT until I beat it. I've had it for three days now and logged about 8 solid hours. That's why I say "just started".

The AI isn't spectacular, but you're talking to a guy who played the original Microprose game and loved it too.

Besides, who cares about the AI... the Quest is just to teach you how to play... the real fun is playing online.

To say whether it gets better, I have to know what you didn't like Smiley. I'll say, it gets challenging. Like when your opponent starts the duel with two Volcanic Dragons in play.

that's indeed more challenging.

what i don't like until now is the simplicity.

the - just summon five goblin hero's and wait 30 seconds and you've won- concept.

For every level they give you a new spell, and then the next challenge involves using the new spell to win. Yes the early creature battle are boring and simple, but the later challenges are like "get to 10 mana before time expires" or "stay alive until time expires" or even "defeat your opponent (with Unsummon as your only spell)".

I actually like this game. Later on, you fight Mishra, who can cast any spell of any color for free at any time.
hHe starts off the battle by casting a Havok Demon. That's not good...
